Usually when I play video games, I look for some pretty basic elements:
1. Story – it’s a necessity.
2. Gameplay – also a necessity.
3. Soundtrack – bad music means sucky atmosphere.
4. Goombas.
5. Solid Graphics – this is important but not critical.
6. Cartoon orgies.
Wait… that’s not true. Why in the world did that come up? Because YouTube just threw this ad up on my screen while I was watching a music video.
Shirley no game is this ridiculous.
I went to the site to investigate – it is in fact that ridiculous.
I’m serious. Don’t call me Shirley.

When do you find the time to wax with all your “monster slaying” and “leveling up”? Also, do those heaving bosoms impede swordplay?

“Larry – hey it’s Allen… good good, hey listen… we’ve decided the demographic needs to be 12 year old boys. We need to really reach out and speak to them somehow. Figure out a way… some way… ANY WAY to get them to click. Make it happen.”
A couple interesting things:
Word on the street (meaning video game review forums) is that there are NOT actual cartoon orgies. So I guess this is just a clever ad campaign.
Also, the site states:
Play as one of three unique classes: Knight, Archer, and Mage.
Someone should send out a memo – the year is 2012, not 1988 – this is not a big selling point anymore, it is expected.
Of course, maybe that’s why they decided to go with orgies.
Whatever dudes.
Quit being lazy and come up with something original.
*edit*
Found another one… yikes.

I think you missed another important niche demographic besides 12 year old boys: live-with-parents sweatpants men. Though I guess I’ve never been a 12 year old boy or a sweatpants man, so I could be wrong on both counts.
Also, any blog post with an airplane quote is a good post in my head. Bravo sir.
This is a good point – the sweatpants men, with their anti-nomadic lifestyle may very well get a kick out of these ingenious advertisements. You have to wonder – do these people want to be taken seriously as developers, or do they just want a bunch of pervs on their site who MIGHT be interested in playing their game after the dirtiness.
Also, any response that gives kudos for an Airplane quote gets kudos back.
Thanks.
Dear God.
I picked a hell of a day to stop sniffing glue.
You and me both.
